The Message-Empty Souls-March 2020

Are you weary in the battle? Are you feeling depressed and empty inside? Do you spend your days wasting away the time you’ve been given on this earth? You will never get this time back. You may even feel guilty about it but it continues. You are focused on the emptiness that void inside of you, that longing and you don’t know how to fill it.

People have tried a hundred different things seeking that fulfillment to fill up that empty part of their souls.  People try entertainment, gaming, drinking, relationships, sex, extra marital affairs, new jobs and drugs, just to name a few. They have tried what the world had to offer and it didn’t satisfy. It causes much harm in your life. Maybe it also left a bitter sour taste.

You have tried all these other things to attempt to get satisfaction and each of them will fail you. Why not turn to Jesus and allow Him to comfort and strengthen you. His Word is full of encouragement. Jesus is who you need.

Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Now I have tasted and seen the goodness of God. He’s sweeter than honey. I stand on His promises that are shaken down and pressed together. His loving kindness overwhelms me. He is better than life. His goodness, love, grace and mercy wash over me. God has satisfied my soul with good things. My heart is filled with His love.

Valerie Bell wrote: My soul was created to be a God-fit. I am incomplete without Him, frustrated and dissatisfied with other substitutes. God is the goal of the soul, all other hungers are symptomatic of the soul’s longing to connect to its soul mate-God.

God intentionally created that void inside each of us and He knew that only He could satisfy you. I have tried the world’s ways and the Lord’s way. The world’s ways failed me and did more harm than can be imagined.

The world offers you sorrow, heartbreak, misery and will leave you unfulfilled. If you are eating of what the world offers, you are starving to death on the inside, running on empty. Deep down there is still a big empty space the world cannot fill. It only grows larger as you continue to try to fill it with worldly things.

Taste and see that what Jesus offers you will fill you up, grow you, heal and restore you. Jesus will satisfy those cravings, desires and longings you have. Jesus will fulfill you. Ask Him to.

Psalm 90:14 Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.

People are souls housed in a body, created in the image of God. It is our souls (mind, will, emotions) that live on forever. We are valuable in God’s eyes and were made solely for God. When Jesus gave Himself on the cross to die for our sins, He did it for our souls that will live on forever, with Him or without Him, our choice.

The Lord placed deep within us a longing that can only be satisfied when we are in relationship with Him. It was meant to be this way. He created us to need Him to depend on Him. Of course Satan doesn’t want this. He is in the fight for your soul. We are the prize to be won or lost. I pray you come to Jesus. Don’t let the sacrifice Jesus made be in vain.

1 Corinthians 6 19-20 …You are not your own, for you were bought with a price….

Our very existence is to tell others about Jesus, who He is and what wonderful things He has and will do for those who love Him. Jesus died for all souls in hopes they would all come to Him and be saved.

Our soul longs to come near to God. We yearn to be filled in those empty spots. He alone can satisfy you. He will fill you with His love, grace and mercy. His goodness and loving kindness will flow over you. Allow Him to take care of you, to heal you and lift you up out of that depression and emptiness that wants to take you down. That isn’t from the Lord. He doesn’t want to take you down but rather lift you up in the Name of Jesus. He wants you happy, fulfilled and telling others about what He has done for you. When others see what He has done in your life, it may help them to come to the Lord and finally be filled, finally to drown out that longing.

God wants to satisfy that deep longing and nothing but Him will ever satisfy your soul.

Psalm 143:6 I reach out for you, I thirst for you as parched lands thirst for rains.

John 7:37 Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, If anyone is thirsty let him come to me and drink.

Get your eyes focused on Jesus and be satisfied. Don’t focus on how bad you have messed up. He knew you would mess up before you did it. He died on the cross because He knew just how bad we would mess up. He knew we could not save ourselves. He is the lifter of our heads, the joy in our hearts even in sorrow.

From Psalm 63:

O God, you are my God, and I long for you.

My whole being desires you; like a dry, worn-out, and waterless land,
my soul is thirsty for you.

Let me see you in the sanctuary; let me see how mighty and glorious you are. Your constant love is better than life itself, and so I will praise you.

I will give you thanks as long as I live; I will raise my hands to you in prayer.

My soul will feast and be satisfied, and I will sing glad songs of praise to you.

God bless. Heal the brokenhearted, bind up all their wounds.
