Holy Spirit Jesus BaptismThe Holy Spirit enters when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. He places a seed of each fruit of the Spirit inside us; Galatians 5:22 love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Jesus told His disciples to go and bring forth fruit for their fellow men. The disciples were to walk through the earth healing the sick, loosening those that were bound and setting them free of bondages, as they taught about Jesus and what He can do.

As Christians we have the same spirit that is in Jesus. We are to bear fruit for Him. Jesus said abide in me, and I in you. You can’t bear fruit by yourself. You must yield and abide in Jesus.

Every branch that does not bear fruit He takes away. The fruit bearing branches He prunes so they will bear more fruit. Apart from Jesus you can do nothing. Ask Him to grow your fruit of the Spirit.

Love – Seeks the good of others.
Joy – A deep gladness from Jesus.
Peace – Surpasses all understanding, a gift of God, inward.
Patience – To hold fast and endure.
Kindness – To respond to the needs of others.
Goodness – Helping others in need.
Faithfulness – For others to rely on.
Gentleness – Controlled strength.
Self-control – Victory over our flesh.

These identify a Spirit filled life. Jesus said you will recognize them by their fruits.

In order for the fruit of the Spirit to grow and mature it demands that we be put in situations where we can use them. We must develop them. Each time we use our patience, love, self-control etc. we become a little bit stronger in that area. It is like a muscle. Each time we use that muscle it becomes a little bit stronger and stronger and stronger. To grow your patience for example, you have to be placed in situations where patience is needed. Maybe where people are hard to get along with, people may be rude, they may get on your last nerve. Each situation is testing your patience. You will be tested in this area until you are able to pass the test the way the Lord wants. When sheep are at the foot of a mountain grazing, they walk around that mountain eating and very slowly they will go around and up and around and up that mountain eating until they get to the top. When we are tested we go around and around Jesus until we get it right. We have to keep taking the same test over and over until we get to where we need to be with each fruit of the Spirit.

So we may as well get it right. We may as well yield to the Holy Spirit. Let Him lead and guide us, so we can grow our fruit of the Spirit. When you are in the situation where you just want to go off on someone, you will feel a check in your Spirit or that hesitation in your heart, telling you not to do it. If you do it anyway, you have not yielded to the Holy Spirit and you can be assured you will be taking that test again until you get it right, until you are able to yield to the Holy Spirit, until you obey. Go ahead and be bold and ask God to help you grow you in the fruit of the Spirit. It is better than going around the same mountain over and over, up and down only to have to keep taking the test over and over because you wouldn’t yield to the Holy Spirit.

No one ever accidentally drifts into spiritual maturity or excellence. It demands a yielding of our life to the Holy Spirit’s leading. We have to starve the flesh (our sinful nature) and yield to the Spirit. When we do this, we can walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh. Let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Holy Spirit wants. These two forces are constantly fighting each other.
Someone walking in the Spirit is a stark contrast to works of the flesh. The Bible says that every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So wherever you are, wherever you go, whatever you do, bear fruit, at the grocery store, at the football game, at the pool, at school, at work, at home, when someone is unkind and hurts you, when someone talks negatively about you. No good tree bears bad fruit and no bad tree bears good fruit. Man plants, man waters but God gives the increases.

Galatians 5:19-21 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are clear, sexual immorality, lustful pleasures, idolatry, hostility, jealousy, anger, selfishness, envy, drunkenness and other sins like these.

Those who rely on the Holy Spirit and follow His leading will not sin. God’s Spirit will never lead people to sin.

Galatians 5:24 Believers have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to His cross and crucified them there.

We must walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh. We must rely on the Holy Spirit to overcome the power of the flesh. The Holy Spirit wants to make us responsible persons in every area of our life. Pray and ask for help. You can’t do it on your own.

If you believe Jesus died for your sins, rose from the grave and ascended to Heaven to prepare a place for you, ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and to come into your heart. Ask the Holy Spirit to please enter and live in you, to lead, guide, teach, touch, heal and comfort you. Ask Him to heal you on the inside.

At that moment the blood of Jesus will cleanse you of your sins. The Holy Spirit will bear witness with your spirit that you have passed from death unto life. The seeds of the fruit of the Spirit will be placed in you. Begin the process of walking in faith with Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Romans 15:13 May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound and be overflowing with hope.

God Bless. Heal the broken hearted, bind up all their wounds.
