Rant for Jesus-Hupo-Mene, August 2021

Hupo-Mene is a Greek word for remain under. To remain under you have to be steadfast, have perseverance, patience and endurance. Many of us want these characteristics, but don’t want to do what has to be done to obtain them. You don’t just get them, you have to go through things and use these qualities over and over to grow or build them up, just as you would building your muscles.

James 1:3-4 For you know that when your faith is tested, your patience, steadfastness and endurance have a chance to grow. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

Hupo-Mene or remaining under the storms and trials, is the funnel which God uses to get the things He wants in you. He uses the storms, trials and tribulations to bring you steadfastness, perseverance, endurance and patience. When you find yourself in a storm, know that God is working in you, so you may become perfect and complete lacking nothing. It happens step by step, glory to glory all throughout your life.

Some storms last longer than others. Sometimes you have to Hupo-Mene (remain under) for a long time. It hurts. You have to let God have His way. Honor God by remaining under, by taking a couple more steps towards perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

As a believer, you may have to go through extended ongoing problems, grief and sorrows. Sometimes your faith is challenged. This is when you realize the Lord is in control, and you must depend totally on Him. You realize you can’t change your circumstances that only He can. He is sovereign over the circumstances of your life. If He is allowing the storms, the trials, there are some things for you to learn by going through them. God has a purpose in it all.

1 Peter 1:7 These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold – though your faith is far more precious than mere gold.

When you are tested by fire, it is like gold and silver being in the fire. The fire takes all the impurities out of it and leaves only pure and perfect gold and silver

Many times during many days and months, I found myself whispering I trust You Jesus. I whispered it even when it felt like the walls were crumbling all around me. Through waves of panic. Even when I thought I may drown in my own grief and sorrow, through the tears, the pleading and begging, I whispered, I trust You Lord, Your will be done not mine. It was so hard to say those words.

I don’t have any strength of my own, but I have found strength through Jesus. His grace is new every morning and will get me through every day and every one of God’s children can have it. The Spirit Himself empowers us, strengthening us with power in our inner being. This Glory strength enables us to keep on enduring the unendurable.

Colossians 1:11 We pray that you will have the strength to stick it out over the long haul-not the grim strength of gritting your teeth but the glory-strength God gives. It is strength that endures the unendurable and spills over into joy.

God wants us to be His disciples on earth, telling others about His love, grace and mercy. He invites us to give ourselves to Him, so He can work His will in us. The Holy Spirit will change us on the inside, to become more like Jesus if we will yield and obey. Holy Spirit has changed me so much. It has been 14 years and I am not the same person. I’m far better than I was. I will follow Jesus all of my days and praise His Holy Name.

He’s ready to change you, but He won’t force Himself into your life. He waits to be invited. As we yield, surrender and obey Him, He begins to remold us into what He originally intended us to be, before Satan brought sin into the world.

The enemy brings all kinds of storms into our lives and wants them to keep us from experiencing, everything God has for us. We must keep our eyes on Jesus and not on our circumstances. God uses these storms, to grow us closer to Him and to teach us. He’s getting us ready for heaven.

The lifestyle of trusting the Lord brings inner peace. It isn’t here today and gone tomorrow. It is trusting God with your small problems and storms as well as the big ones. Everything is small to God.

1 Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.

These storms and trials are painful. You will not want to go through them, but you must in order for God to make you better, so He can change you, strengthen your faith and teach you patient endurance.

God is going to work on what He knows you need more of. Maybe it’s forgiveness, humility, faith, or patience. Do you want to please God? Do you want to be more like Jesus? If so, then you have to go through it, no matter how hard it is. God will change you for the better, but you must go through the trials, trusting and believing, God is with you every step of the way.

God will use your circumstances to change you on the inside.

He calls Himself I Am, not I was. He is present right now. He is ever present whether you feel Him or not. He tells you in His Word, I will never leave you nor forsake you. He says, I will be with you even unto the ends of the earth.

Would you ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior? He will forgive you of all of your sins. Though your sins be as scarlet He will wash you whiter than snow. As you draw near to Him with confession and repentance, He will draw near to you with mercy and forgiveness.

Satan wants to destroy you, to kill you. Jesus wants to rescue you, to save you, to give you eternal life with Him. Just ask Him to come into your heart.

God Bless. Heal the brokenhearted, bind up all their wounds.
