The Message – Jesus, Born to Die For Us – Dec 2018

Christmas began with Jesus being born in a manger for animals, not in a fine home like you would imagine for our Savior and King.

Philippians 2:7-8 But made himself of no reputation and took upon him the form of a servant and was made in the likeness of men. And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Yes, He humbled Himself to be born in a manger not a palace fit for a King. Oh how He loves us. God set a plan in action where we could be in a relationship with Him through Jesus. He adopted us and He used that manger as part of His plan to do it. God became flesh so He could accomplish salvation. So those who would believe could become His adopted sons and daughters through Jesus Christ.

Jesus left heaven to come to this sin filled world full of evil and wickedness, hurt and pain, hopelessness and death. He did it for us. He took the curse of our sin so He might point us to God. His Name is Emmanuel-God with us. There could be no Christmas without Jesus and the manger.

The cross is why Jesus left heaven and came to earth. He knew what He had to do to save us.

Baby Jesus was born with small soft hands and feet, a beautiful head and body. He did many good things with those hands. But those hands were also made so those nails could be driven through to the cross, for us. Those small soft feet would one day walk up a hill to Calvary carrying that cross, His cross. There His feet would be nailed to the cross for us. His beautiful head would wear the crown of thorns, pushing into His skin causing blood to run down His body. A spear would pierce His side and water and blood would run down His body.

That baby born in a manger gave His life for us. He became sin for us so we could become the righteousness of God.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

He took the punishment we deserve. He did it for us because He loves us. Why else would someone give His life for others who are sinners that don’t even know Him?

John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh which I will give for the life of the world.

I’ve mentioned a little about the birth of Jesus and a little about the cross.  I want to tell you a little about His Second Coming. In that manger in Bethlehem He came as a baby, gentle like a lamb. But when He comes in the Second Coming He will come as the Lion of Judah. All heaven will shine brightly with His Glory as He rides the clouds to earth. Every eye will see Him. He is coming wearing His crown and He will come as the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Everyone will know who He is. Every mouth will confess it.

Revelation 19:11-13  And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.  His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.  And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

Jesus will end all pain, hurting and suffering. That’s because He’s going to end the one who is causing all of it. That would be the ruler of this world Satan.

2 Thessalonians 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

Jesus is the hope of this world. As a baby He came as our Savior. In the Second Coming of Jesus He will be the Judge of the world and He will condemn those who chose not to believe and follow Him.

Psalm 98:9 Before the Lord; for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.
