The Holy Spirit anointed Jesus when He was baptized by John the Baptist. He gave Jesus the power He needed to endure while on the earth and when He was on the cross.

Matthew 3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water, and lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him.

If Jesus needed the anointing of the Holy Spirit, you know we definitely need it. You don’t just get anointed once. The anointing empowers/enables/allows you to do those tasks which God has asked or called you to do. The definition of anointing, means to rub or smear on. Oil was smeared or poured on someone who God had tasked with a special service to God, in the Old Testament. The practice is used to this day to anoint someone. The anointing is God’s Spirit inside us, that gives us power for service on earth. Jesus needed it, and we need it to do God’s will.

The Holy Spirit raised Jesus from the dead and now must raise us from the dead.

Romans 8:11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as he raised Christ from the dead, he will give life to your mortal body by this same Spirit living within you.

The Holy Spirit is to transform us, to be more like Jesus while we are on earth. He’s all powerful, all knowing, part of the Godhead. If we allow the Holy Spirit to control our lives, we will think and do things that please God, and it will bring joy and peace. If we are willing, if we yield, and surrender, He will lead, guide, teach, touch, comfort, counsel and heal us.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

If you have been born again, the Holy Spirit has come upon you. Cooperate with Him. God wants you to have power. The power is inside you through the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, in my name you will cast out demons. You have to have power to do that. He said, in my name they will tread on scorpions and serpents. You have to have super natural power that only the Holy Spirit can bring you.

How much of you does the Holy Spirit have? Let Him have control of your mouth, your mind, your emotions, body, everything. Stand on it, receive it. Let Him fill you up, to be bold and courageous, tell others about Jesus. I can do all things with Christ inside me who strengthens me. Let the Holy Spirit flow through you, so you can be a Spirit filled servant, to help others, heal the broken-hearted, bind up all their wounds, show love, mercy, and forgiveness. The Holy Spirit will help you grow your fruit of the Spirit, ask Him to help you with that.

Go to God first about all things. Go to Him about your business, tests, your health, relationships, and spiritual matters. Don’t make your plans and then pray about it. Pray first and ask God to show you what you need to do. Then make your plans. The Holy Spirit will lead you each step of the way. He probably won’t give you everything at once, but bit by bit. When He shows you something, step out in faith trusting Him. He will then show you something else and so forth. Humble yourself and seek the Holy Spirits help and guidance. The quicker you learn that you can do nothing on your own, the better off you will be.

It is not so easy to totally yield oneself to the Holy Spirit. Hard to let go. Humans tend to want control. However, we cannot manipulate the Holy Spirit. He isn’t a person or power that we can use when we want. He requires you to be the vessel and that is all, you are to provide. He uses this to do His mighty works.

Recently the Holy Spirit has shown me that I don’t leave enough room for Him to work while I am delivering my message. If I am so determined to stick to my message, it is hard to be led by the Spirit. So, I will be working on that. It is natural for humans to want a plan and to want to stick to it. However, the Spirit knows best. I yield. Thank you Holy Spirit for showing that to me. With your help I will do better. When God gives you something to do, He will give you whatever you need to do it.

Galatians 5:17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.
If you let your sinful nature control your mind, it leads to death. The sinful nature is always hostile to God. Those who are under the control of the sinful nature can never please God. Only Jesus can defeat the sin nature. Through His finished work on the cross, Jesus was sinless and rose from the grave to offer grace, mercy, life, love, and forgiveness to all sinners, if they will only believe.

Some of you have been chained by satan. You carry memories of a bad divorce, a mother or father who didn’t love you, rejection, and addictions to sex, drugs, alcohol and pornography. Jesus, has the power through the Holy Spirit to break the yoke of addiction and sin. He will set the alcoholics and drug addicts free, destroy generational curses, help you with your finances, your relationships, and remove those chains of fear and anxiety, the memories of your past, and all the bondages holding you in sin. Our God is a chain breaker, a wound binder, and a broken heart healer. The very thing that is trying to destroy you, God can use to deliver you. Let God arise and His enemies be scattered.

Some worship other Gods beside the one true living God, such as money, football, your job, relationships. You must make Him first in your life. Jesus said you are either for me or against me. You can’t serve Him in church on Sunday, disobey and put everything else before Him the other six days. Jesus is either Lord of Lords to you or He isn’t. He is the master and we are His servants. He is our Shepherd and we are His sheep.

We are supposed to act the way God wants us to act. Godliness is your inner life. Jesus had a big problem with the Pharisees, because they only acted outwardly. They wore the prayer shawls with fringes, they said long prayers, but inside they were empty of God, full of dead men’s bones. You can wear the cross around your neck and on your T shirt, have the bumper sticker, say all the right Christian phrases, but if you don’t have God on the inside of you, it counts for nothing. God looks on the inside of us. Godliness is an inward action the Holy Spirit does in your life, separating you from the things of this world. He gives you a desire to serve Jesus. As you listen and obey, you will begin to behave outwardly in such a manner, that others can see that you are a Christian. Not because you say so, but because of your actions, your behavior.

We are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. He paid a debt He did not owe. After Jesus died, I can imagine the Holy Spirit filling His body with pure love and healing power. Healing all the cuts, bruises and scrapes. Everything but the nail holes in His hands and feet, (His markers). Everyone who looks upon Jesus will never forget that it was He, who gave so much for us to be forgiven, to have eternal life. It is a reminder of what He did for us. Lest any man should boast.

God Bless. Heal the broken-hearted, bind up all their wounds
