Shout It Out-Mortal Bodies, April 2021

If you live to be my age, 71, you will realize your time on this earth is running out. You will know your body has begun deteriorating and time on this earth is shorter than it has ever been.

I noticed substantial changes in my body strength beginning in my 60’s and it continues. I’m no longer as coordinated as I was, or as strong as I was, or as flexible as I used to be. So much of my body has weakened.

This doesn’t stop me because I know I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. It may take me longer for sure, but I’m still going. Occasionally I remind myself I can soar on the wings of the eagles because of Jesus. I remember that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Isaiah 40:31 But those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

I’m headed for the finish line, but I’m not down and out. I can still do the work because Holy Spirit who lives inside of me, empowers me and helps me. The joy of the Lord is my strength!!

Ephesians 3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man.

2 Corinthians 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.

The Bible tells us He will give us immortal bodies for heaven. Bodies that will never be weak or diseased. Glorious bodies, as we will be like Jesus.

Psalm 73:26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Philippians 3:21 who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.

2 Corinthians 5:1-4 For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands. We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing.  For we will put on heavenly bodies; we will not be spirits without bodies. While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh, but it’s not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us. Rather, we want to put on our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by life.

As I continue to age and my body continues to wear down, I keep my eyes on that which the Lord has promised all those who love Him and obey His Word, heaven. I look forward to heaven and being in the Presence of my Lord and Savior, Jesus, and those I love who have gone before me.

2 Corinthians 5:6, 8-10  So we are always confident, even though we know that as long as we live in these bodies we are not at home with the Lord.  Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord.  So whether we are here in this body or away from this body, our goal is to please him. For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body.

I will spend whatever time I have left on this earth, sharing God’s Word and praising His Holy Name. My goal is to please Him in the manner I live my life and obey His Word.

My eyes are clearly on what lies ahead in heaven and meeting Jesus, face to face, to hear His voice and worship Him in person. It brings a smile to my face just writing this. I often pray, Lord get me ready for heaven.

The fact that it is going to happen is amazing. If you knew my background you would understand why I feel that way. As I wait, I cry out Lord Jesus Come!!

Are you going to heaven to be with Jesus? Do you long for His presence? Are you looking for His glorious appearance as Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ? What will you do when you meet Jesus face to face for the first time?

Titus 2:13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.

Philippians 3:20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

God bless. Heal the brokenhearted, bind up all their wounds.
