The Message-Season of Sorrow, September 2019

Are you going through a season of sorrow? From reading Face Book posts and watching the national news, the answer is yes many are. People have been devastated by the loss of loved ones, finances, broken marriages, rebellious children, addiction, unexpected betrayals, abuse, false accusations, lies and much more.

Are the enemies’ arrows coming at you over and over again? Are they hitting their target, which is most often our minds and hearts?  The enemy wants to hurt you. Satan is heartless and acts deliberately and with malice against you and your loved ones. The enemy sent his arrows to kill you or at least to place despair, fear and doubt in your hearts and minds.

The enemy uses people and circumstances to get you away from the Lord. When those arrows hit your mind and heart, more than likely you aren’t focusing on God, but rather on your circumstances and the hurt and pain you are experiencing because of them.

You must stand strong in your faith, no matter the circumstances. No matter the hurt, pain, grief or sorrow you feel, Jesus is there for you. He will never leave you and will walk through every circumstance with you. He will take you to the other side, no matter how long it takes to get there. You will be stronger for it. When we are weak, He is strong. Let Him take you through the fire and get you to the other side.

Romans 5:3-5 More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

1 Peter 5:10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

God uses adversity to make us stronger. Through these fires of life He teaches us to endure and persevere. He once told me: What you need now is patient endurance. I will bless His Name no matter what circumstances I find myself in. I will endure whatever Satan throws my way because Christ lives inside of me. I will follow Jesus all the days of my life, no matter what.

Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

Hebrews 12:7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father?

As we trust Him, He will free us from our doubts, fears and restraints that hold us bondage. He will help us to shake off the despair, heaviness and depression that may have attached themselves to us. Do not yield to the enemy who wants you to stay down and out. Then we will be free from anything that is keeping us from receiving a life of abundance. The fires of adversity have a purpose.

Job 36:15 He delivers the afflicted by their affliction and opens their ear by adversity.

John 10:10 The thief comes to kill, steal and to destroy. I am come so you may have life and have it more abundantly.

Our God is a mighty God who is sovereign and in control. He is the Great I Am. He will use the very thing Satan tried to destroy you with to transform your life, to refine you to become more like Jesus. He can change your heart and heal you from the hurt and pain you have suffered.

Those very arrows that were meant to kill you, to get you away from God, are now in God’s hands and He can turn them into arrows of His love, grace and mercy over you. He offers you peace, healing, restoration and acceptance at the feet of Jesus.

Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

You can’t move forward if you are carrying past hurts in your heart. Forgive so you can heal, so you can live. God has healing in His hands. When you are at your weakest, He will lift you up.

Matthew 6:14-15 For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Ask the Lord to take the sorrow and negative emotions away from you. Satan is the one who wants you to keep having them and you must reject that in the Name of Jesus.

Give your circumstances and everyone involved to God and He will do His part to get you through. God knows everything about your circumstances. He just needs you to let go of them and give them to Him. He knows the best timing of when and how to get you through. He will do the right thing for everyone involved. Allow Psalm 37:5 to work on your behalf. Speak it as often as you need to.

Psalm 37:5 Commit your way to the Lord, trust in Him and He will act.

The next time a set of difficult circumstances comes your way, you will handle it differently than you did before. Your spiritual roots have grown deeper in our Lord. When another crisis arises you will see it cannot touch you as it used to. The enemies’ arrows will come and you will bend instead of breaking. You may go to the point of breaking but without breaking, because your confidence isn’t in yourself, but in the Lord. Going through these difficult circumstances changes us on the inside. We become more trusting and dependent on the Lord to take care of us.

Psalm1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither and whatever he does shall prosper.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.

I pray you are able to trust God so much that you begin saying Your will be done Lord not mine in all of your circumstances. Not only speaking it but believing His will is best for you, every time.

Rise above your circumstances and give God all the glory. God is parting the waters and will lead you out of this sorrowful season. Ask Him to.

God bless. Heal the brokenhearted, bind up all their wounds.
