What level of maturity are you as a Christian? Are you a baby, or mature Christian? Are you growing in the fruit of the Spirit or are you going around that same mountain over and over?

Problems can result when Christians fail to grow spiritually. Some go back to the world and sin. Others stumble due to worldliness and not making God a priority in their lives. Jesus said you are either for me or against me. There is no in between. We must choose.

When people develop a hunger and thirst for the Lord, they will develop the steps they need to grow. All who thirst will thirst no more. All who search will find what their soul longs for. You will not find it in the world, but only through Jesus.

1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the Word that you may grow.

All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Christians need certain kinds of activities to grow spiritually. We need a desire to grow and spiritual food from God’s Word. I want to be more like Jesus. I want to grow the Fruit of the Spirit. I know there is room for growth there. Those are great motivators for me in spending time in the Word. I want to know all about Jesus. I have spent a lot of time reading God’s Word and I can tell you that a lifetime of reading and studying will not be enough for me. I don’t think I will ever know all I want to know about Jesus while I’m on this earth. I enjoy learning about Him and what He did and still does. The more I study the more I find I need to study more. The Bible is vast from the Old Testament to the New. I don’t understand everything. I’m particularly fond of the New Testament, probably because it is all about Jesus, His time on earth and His second coming. Then again, I love the Old Testament as well. Through all the prophets, I have listened to all the things God told them and see how what God said have come true.

Matthew 4:4 Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

To grow we must read the Bible. How else are we going to learn about Jesus’ ways? In the Bible He tells us how to love, how to forgive, how to grow in the Fruit of the Spirit. He ultimately tells us how we are to live our lives on this earth. He teaches us how to treat others. There is a lot in the Bible about how to treat others!

Are you giving God as much time as Face Book; sports, computer time, television; gaming? Do you have a good balance?

Joshua 1:8  Meditating on the Word brings wisdom, prosperity and success.

There’s no set amount of time to read God’s Word. You have to determine how much time you want to spend with God. You need quiet time with Him. He often speaks to us through scripture. It is an intimate relationship between us and Him. The more time we spend with Him the closer we become. Reading the Word changes our mind set. It changes our behavior, the way we speak and hear. It changes us on the inside. Then it shows on the outside of us in our behavior and the choices we make. Maybe it is 10 minutes or maybe you spend an hour reading the Bible. Whatever amount of time it is, make it count. Make it time, with just you and God.

2 Peter 3:18 Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

If you accepted Jesus recently or if you have remained a baby Christian after accepting Jesus, you have a lot of growing to do to become mature in Christ. It is a process and doesn’t happen overnight. If a person has been a child of God for several years and has not grown, something is missing in their relationship with God. Pray about it. Ask God to point out what needs to change.

It is impossible to have a great relationship with God, without feeding ourselves with His Word. As we feed on the Word, we grow in the Lord. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you in understanding God’s Word.

If you believe Jesus died for your sins, rose from the grave and ascended to Heaven to prepare a place for you, ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and to come into your heart. Ask the Holy Spirit to please enter and live in you, to lead, guide, teach, touch, heal and comfort you. Ask Him to heal you on the inside.

At that moment the blood of Jesus will cleanse you of your sins. The Holy Spirit will bear witness with your spirit that you have passed from death unto life. The seeds of the Fruit of the Spirit will be placed in you. Begin the process of walking in faith with Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

God Bless. Heal the broken hearted, bind up all their wounds.
