Bible Strong-Swing that Sword, September 2020

God’s Word is the Sword of the Spirit. Learn how to swing that sword every time the enemy attacks you. When fear, doubt, sickness, temptation, pride, greed, jealousy, etc. come your way, swing that Sword boldly, speaking God’s Word.

Get prepared before you are in a storm or going through a crisis. It is best that you don’t wait until you are in the middle of a storm to try and find the words you need from the Bible. Read your Bible often and get God’s Word inside of you. Then when you are in need of scripture to sustain you, Holy Spirit can bring it to your memory because it is inside of you. If you haven’t read it yet and don’t have it on the inside of you, you can’t expect it to be brought to your memory. If you haven’t read it you surely can’t speak it. In the storm, swing that Sword. It is your armor, your defense. Have your shield of faith in one hand and the Sword of the Spirit in the other and put on your helmet which is your salvation.

Ephesians 6:17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Satan nor his demons can read our minds. They learn about us from what they hear from us and others. They also see our actions. That is why we must speak God’s Word to them. They know God’s Word, they tremble when they hear it. If you resist the devil and his demons by speaking God’s Word, they will flee. So swing that Sword. Let it pass from your mouth into the ears of the enemy.

James 4:7 Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil and he must flee from you.

Jesus quotes scripture back at Satan when Satan tries to twist the bible for his own advantage. In this way Jesus stands His ground and fights against the lies of the enemy. Just as you can. This scripture is Jesus swinging that Sword.

Matthew 4:1-11 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.  And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.

But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: He shall give His angels charge over you, and, In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. Jesus said to him, It is written again, You shall not tempt the Lord your God. Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me. Then Jesus said to him, Away with you, Satan! For it is written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve. Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.

We can see how important it is to swing that Sword and to always be ready for every temptation, trial and storm that comes our way. Jesus continually spoke “it is written” to the devil. He stood firm and swung that Sword of the Spirit.

We need to be in God’s Word, getting it inside of us, memorizing and speaking it. Otherwise we may begin believing the lies the devil feeds us.

The Devil lying to you:

Devil: You are alone. They have all left you.

Sword: Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.

Devil: You have no one to help you. You will never be able to do this. Give up.

Sword: Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Devil: This is impossible for you.

Sword: Luke 1:37 For with God nothing will be impossible.

Devil: No one loves you especially God. You fail too much.

Sword: Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? [shall] tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.  Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Devil: You can’t go on. You can’t take anymore. Just give up.

Sword: Psalm 55:22 Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.

Devil: Your life has no purpose. Might as well be like this world and have fun.

Sword: Jeremiah 29:11 I have a plan for you. To prosper you not to harm you. To give you a hope and a future.

If you don’t know scriptures to enable you to swing that Sword, you will not have a defense against the many lies and temptations Satan will throw at you.

Don’t give sin/Satan any open doors or you will soon have him right beside you at every opportunity. Give no room to the enemy. There are consequences of sin whether done in private or public. So when Satan tells you; no one will find out, don’t you listen to him. God will know.

The Lord has not compelled us to give in to this world, to soften His Word and overlook the sin that goes against Him. He hasn’t sent us into this world to compromise His Word or give tolerance to sin that goes against His Word. It isn’t enough that we aren’t conquered, but that we help to conquer sin. That is why Jesus came to the earth and it is our mission to do the same with our time here. We must go forward and swing that Sword.

Holy Spirit wields no other sword but the Word of God, a spiritual weapon. He may use it upon our fears, doubts, pride, fleshly desires and the love of sin. It is a weapon that conquers. It is the Word of God which God has spoken by holy men of old and has caused them to be recorded. He spoke the Word into their hearts and made them think as He would have them think and to write what He wanted. Holy Spirit has made our Holy Bible Himself. It bears His imprint and is worthy of His own hand. Holy Spirit is always swinging that Sword. It is the weapon of war of Holy Spirit against evil and the powers of darkness. We must have a reverence for the Word.

The Lord has recorded many many facts, promises and truths that most of you have never read. How can this be? Begin today and read the Word of God so you can swing that Sword. Use it at home, on your children, spouse and of course yourself. Just this will keep you quite busy. There will always be a need to swing that Sword within yourself and your own family and friends.

God’s voice is clear to me as He tells me: Always have My Sword in your mouth. It is your sword too. Take it and swing that Sword, swing that Sword, if you want to win the battle and defeat your enemy, swing that Sword in the Name of Jesus.

God bless. Heal the brokenhearted, bind up all their wounds.
