Shout It Out-The Narrow Road, August 2019

The road the majority of the world is on is a wide road of destruction and death. They are doing whatever their own desires, and the world tell them to do. They fit in nicely with the world. They belong to Satan.

The few that are on that narrow road following after Jesus can’t give in to their fleshly desires, nor partake in the worldly things. We don’t fit in with the world. That may be why we are mocked and made fun of, because we are different. We are set apart by God as His own. We belong to the Lord.

Matthew 7:13-14 Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.  But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

A narrow gate is harder to pass through than a wide one. A narrow road holds a few people where a wide one holds many. Jesus is telling us that is difficult being a Christian following Him. Only a few will truly do it because the path is difficult. Making Him first in your life, must be the most important thing to you.

God and Satan are after the souls of humans. Our souls must be very important to both of them. God wants our souls in heaven with Him and promises us forgiveness of sins and eternal life with Jesus. Satan on the other hand comes to steal, kill and to destroy and to keep you away from eternal life with God, only so you can spend eternity in hell with him and his demons. It is a war and it has been going on since the Garden of Eden.

It all depends on which road you choose for yourself. There are only two choices. The narrow road and the wide road are opposite of each other. The worldly folks are running full speed on the wide road, straight to destruction and death. They don’t have eyes to see, the path they have chosen leads to death and an eternity in hell without Jesus.

Isaiah 35:8 And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness; it will be for those who walk on that Way. The unclean will not journey on it; wicked fools will not go about on it.

The ones following after Jesus are trying to live differently than the world. The Bible is our guide on how to live. It does not allow us to live in the world and do whatever our fleshly desires wants to. We are to live holy lives because God is Holy. We must obey His Word. Stop being part of the world. Deny yourself and take up your cross daily and follow Jesus.

Luke 14:27 And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

James 4:4 You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

Matthew 10:37-39 Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.

There is a cost to following Jesus on that narrow road. We must exercise self-denial, turn from our sins, forgive others whether they deserve it or not, love even our enemies and live in the world but not be of the world, to mention a few. We must fight an enemy who has thousands of followers and they will be attacking you for following Jesus. Jesus says to count the cost.

Luke 9:23-26 Then he said to them all: Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self? Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

Dedicate your life to following Jesus on the narrow road. Enter through the narrow door and you will never regret it. There will be many on the wide road and entering through the wide gate because it is easier. Many may go on it with each other.

When your end of life comes or the Rapture, whichever comes first, only those on the narrow road who went through the narrow door, will be going to heaven with Jesus. All others will spend eternity in hell with Satan and all his followers and there are multitudes of them. Don’t let the door shut on you that Jesus is holding open today. Come in.

Luke 13:23-25 Someone asked him, Lord, are only a few people going to be saved? He said to them. Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. When once the master of the house has risen and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, open to us, then he will answer you, I do not know where you come from.

God bless. Heal the brokenhearted, bind up all their wounds.
