Bible Strong-Why Read the Bible-May, 2019

The Holy Bible is an awesome gift from God. It has been around about 6,000 years since Creation. If Genesis is the first book of the Bible, written by Moses, this would have happened around 1450 BC to 1400 BC. About 3,400 years ago. God has given us so many examples of life experiences to include the life of Jesus, which tell us, how to live our lives today in the 21st Century.

The Bible is the source of information telling us about the future. There are 300 prophesies telling us about the first coming of Christ and they were all fulfilled. Then there are three times that many concerning the second coming of Christ. They will all be fulfilled as well.

When you read the Bible, you will get to know God’s ways and His thoughts. It teaches us what God expects of us as followers of Jesus and what is going to happen to those who don’t accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. It explains eternity as heaven for followers of Jesus and hell for those following Satan.

The world is full of the devils lies and is wicked. It is full of fleshly pleasures and temptations. If we don’t renew our minds in God’s Word we can easily fall prey to all these temptations, pleasures and les. His Word helps to keep us grounded in His truths and goodness. It helps to control our thoughts which is where Satan often attacks. We then can make better decisions based on His Word.

The Bible renews your mind and shows you His wisdom. Reading it lifts our spirits and helps you to see yourself as you really are so you can refocus your life and perspective. The Bible warns you when you are about to make a wrong choice or decision. It will redirect your path.

Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

2 Corinthians 10:5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

I want to know all about Jesus. All about His life, love, grace and mercy. Reading His Word is how I can come to know Him more.

I have read the Bible several times because I need it all the time. I read it from front to back and when I finish I begin over again. I don’t have a time table but it generally takes me close to a year. It doesn’t matter how long it takes because I’m just going to start from the beginning again. I love His Word. God sometimes has spoken to me so directly through His Word, especially in times of trouble. I don’t want to miss hearing Him that way.

The more time you devote to hearing/reading God’s Word, the more your faith will grow and the stronger you will become in Him. Jesus wants us to have a close personal relationship with Him. How can you do that if you don’t hear/read His Word? How can you know Him in an intimate way if you don’t find out who He is?

Romans 10:17 Faith comes by hearing and hearing through the word of Christ.

The Bible is timeless and endures forever and has the testimony of the Lord in it. Jesus is called the Word of God.

The Word of God is infallible, complete, authoritative and sufficient for all our needs and accomplishes what it promises. The Bible is to be obeyed. It has the power to change lives. God reveals Himself to us within the pages.

Proverbs 30:5-6 Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Do not add to his words or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.

Psalm 119:89 Your word, Lord, is eternal it stands firm in the heavens.

2 Timothy 3:16-17  All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness  so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Isaiah 55:11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

No one can love you like Jesus does. It’s hard to imagine Jesus’ love. Just look at the cross and you will begin to see how much He loves you.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, so we would not perish but have everlasting life.

There is great reward reading and living by God’s Word. God sees, He knows and He will reward you.

Revelation 1:3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.

Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee.

Let His words be heard with your ears, flow over your tongue and settle in your heart and mind. It will give you strength and wisdom to make good decisions.

Believers are the bride Jesus is coming back to take to heaven with Him. God has picked the perfect time, the perfect day, and the perfect dress of white (which is His righteousness), to come get us. We are His children. We belong to the Master. Years before we were born, He thought we were worth dying for. Thank You Jesus, I know I don’t deserve this. Glory to Your Name oh God.

John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

Acts 1:9-12 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.

God bless. Heal the brokenhearted, bind up all their wounds.
