Jesus repeatedly says, to ask for what you want in prayer, and it will be given you. He promises that if we approach Him confidently with prayer, He will grant them. However, don’t expect God to answer prayers when one’s motives are wicked or evil. God is pure, and holy, and will have nothing to do with evil. If you pray for something with wrong motives, don’t expect your prayer to be answered. Wrong motives could be, if your prayer request is something hurtful, harmful, selfish, or destructive to others.

Some don’t have a good relationship with God, and do not pray. They don’t trust in God’s grace, or pray with wrong motives, because they are unaware of God’s purity, and holiness.

He said, He is your Provider. Ask Him for whatever you need, and want. Dream big. Don’t think little when you are asking the Creator for something. Think big. He owns all the gold and silver in the world. He can make anything happen He chooses to. The worst thing that can happen is, He says no, or makes you wait on it. Sometimes you have to ask, and keep on asking. Other times, prayers are answered quickly.

Matthew 7:7-8 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened

I find that when I pray about something spiritual, my prayers are answered more quickly. Maybe I was looking for answers to something spiritual, something about the Bible, asking for confirmation, or approval. It has been my experience, those prayers get answered more quickly than others. Sometimes within minutes, or same day.

It is all on God’s timing. He will answer prayers at the right time. It may not be the timing we want, but it is the right timing. He knows everything. He knows if you are able to handle the prayer being answered, if it is good for you or not, if it will tempt you to sin, if it is answered, if it will make you greedy, boastful, selfish, or if your character can handle the prayer being answered, and if by answering the prayer, it will glorify Him. So much thought goes into each prayer request. Of course, answering prayers for God is an easy thing. Regardless if it is big or small to us, they are all small to God.

When we want something, we need to actively seek it through prayer, rather than just expect, it to come to us. If what we desire is good, and right, we should ask God for what we want. Then wait patiently!

Below are only a few of the scriptures concerning this. It is surprising to me how many times this is talked about in the Bible. I’m going to make sure I ask for what I want. I believe if I do it with the right motives, the right heart, it will be done.

Matthew 7:7-8 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened

Matthew 18:19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Luke 11:9-10 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

John 16:23-24 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

James 4:2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
